Violence stops plans for extended license at Kudos

Kudos have dropped plans to apply for an extended license after a series of police objections. The Club, which is a new this year, hoped to be licensed to serve alcohol until 4am. But, last week saw violent scenes break out, when a gang of 60 men attempted to enter by fighting their way into the club. The police have been called in on a number occasions over the past month and were concerned at the possibility of extended hours.

Police have urged Councillors to deny any attempts Kudos makes to gain a late license. A spokewoman from Barracuda Group, the the club’s owner, said that “these incidents do not occur regularly.” A promoter of the student club night at Kudos denied that there have been “any serious problems”.
