NG7 No Longer a Burglary Hotspot?

A recently released study by moneysupermarket.com has revealed the 20 ‘most burgled’ postcodes in England, with the county of Nottinghamshire unveiled as the second most burgled area in the country after London. However, whilst Nottinghamshire postcodes dominate the lofty positions of 1st, 3rd, 11th and 12th most ‘at-risk’, our own enclave of NG7 Lenton is noticeable only by its absence from this list.

Although we can take some small comfort from the fact that we live in one of the less burgled postcodes of the second most burgled city, the student demographic remains the most at risk of this type of crime. Nationwide, instances of domestic burglary have risen, and figures show that students and households occupied by those in the 16 – 24 age range are up to 5% more likely to be burgled than average. So perhaps it’s not quite time to stop vigilantly locking the windows and bolting the doors before going out, but at least we’ve got it better than Trent: their popular residential area of NG2 is high on the hotlist at number 3.
