Reggae is a timeless musical genre, with sounds now decades old still being enjoyed throughout the world. It was a cold day on the downs when we realised that there was something missing at the University of Nottingham – Reggae. ‘Who doesn’t like Reggae?’ That single question encapsulates why the society was formed; it’s for absolutely everybody. Founded in November 2008 we’ve been going from strength to strength, helping students tap into Nottingham’s thriving reggae scene. If you consider yourself a bit of a lord of the skank, we offer discounted entry to Highness and Back to Basics, Nottingham’s premier reggae nights. If you’re more of a laid back listener we host Reggae Radio, a weekly show on URN. With bi-monthly socials, it’s a great place for people to meet and chill, but leave your Marley LPs at home. We’ve also got some rather snazzy apparel too, focusing mostly on the comfort element – our tracksuit is not to be missed. All this, along with regular movie screenings and BBQs galore, means it’s an exciting year for the society and all involved (dreadlocks not required). Jah Bless.
