In the second flash mob of the day, members of the Women’s Network performed outside the Atrium in Portland in support of charity One Billion Rising.
At 1.45pm, ten dancers congregated and performed their routine to the tune of Aretha Franklin’s ‘Respect’.
UoN students joined other activists from around the world who performed flash mobs on behalf of V-Day, the movement that campaigns for violence against women and girls to end.
Producer and Director, Gina Shenouda told Impact that, “It went great. It’s about raising awareness, until the violence stops.”
The Women’s Network are also putting on the Vagina Monologues, which will take place in The Den on 1st March.
Producer and Director Laura Seddon said that “Today was about V-Day specifically and we are celebrating it again with the Vagina Monologues, raising money for V-Day and for the Women’s Centre in Nottingham.”
