Groundhog Day director Harold Ramis dies aged 69

Writer, actor and director Harold Ramis, best known for his work on classic comedies such as Ghostbusters and Groundhog Day, passed away yesterday at his home in Chicago, he was 69.

Ramis will be best remembered for his role as Egon Spengler in Ghostbusters, and for directing such comedies as Caddyshack, National Lampoon’s Vacation and Groundhog Day. 

Throughout his career he collaborated with many comedy greats including John Candy, Chevy Chase, Billy Crystal and Bill Murray.

As one of the defining comedy talents of the 80’s and 90’s he will be sorely missed. “Don’t cross the streams!”
