Most Anticipated Films of 2014 #15 – Winter’s Tale

Set in a fantastical vision of Edwardian New York, Winter’s Tale combines themes of love, fantasy, mystery and justice, based on the novel of the same name by Mark Helprin.

The film boasts a stellar cast including Colin Farrell, the thief and romantic heartthrob; Jessica Brown Findlay, who appears to have been influenced by her role as Sybil on Downton Abbey as her character similarly goes for the Irish guy and is stricken with a life-threatening condition; and Russell Crowe, who’s role as surly gangster Pearly Soames is reminiscent of his recent portrayal of Javert in Les Misérables.

Evidently Winter’s Tale tells a love story that is not as straightforward as one may deduce, as the trailer shows Farrell’s Peter Lake somehow living inexplicably in both 1916 and present day Manhattan. An epic love story that is sure to translate into a magical film.
