Thank God It’s Spotifriday #11

Spotifriday #11 Facebook

This week’s Thank God It’s Spotifriday is brought to you by Ben. Opening the playlist, we have Kurt Vile with ‘Girl Called Alex’ from his sublime album, Wakin’ On A Pretty Daze. Electronic offerings from DJ Koze (and his exquisite album, Amygdala), James Blake (and his sophomore album, Overgrown) and Trip-Hop veterans UNKLE (with their 1998 sleeper hit, Psyence Fiction).

We also have Hip-Hop in the form of Tyler, the Creator with a little help from Earl Sweatshirt and Domo Genesis as well as Black Milk’s fantastic instrumental EP, Synth or Soul. This week saw the return of Savages to the Bodega and a healthy reminder that the British underground scene still has much to offer.

In tribute to the Met Gala’s ‘Punk’ Fashion show (and testament to irony), we close the playlist with two acts that actually harbour a punk ethos; Post-Hardcore pioneers Fugazi and the Neo-Psychedelic/Neo-Shoegaze/Neo-Garage Rock Deerhunter. Enjoy.

Sheriff of Spottingham: Ben James
