Paranormal Activity 3 set a precedent for horror franchises to make the third film a prequel. Now Insidious: Chapter 3 looks set to follow, looking back at Elisa (Lin Shaye), the paranormal investigator from the first two instalments and the encounters she had way before she ever met the Lamberts.
The trailer is definitely creepy. A combination of chill inducing soundtrack and well used jump scares ramps up the tension. With a protagonist who has broken legs after a traffic accident, I think we can expect a lot of shots of her dragging herself away from whatever super-natural threat is knocking on her wall. Escaping just became a whole lot harder…
The first two films were enjoyable horror outings, and, though the second worse than the original, the franchise still has potential, especially under a new director. With more explorations of the mysterious Further and all the supernatural horrors it has to offer this could be very exciting.
