It may be hard to find the Hungry Pumpkin if you are not familiar with Nottingham, but this little Lace Market café is well worth the visit. I came across this gem in my first year and have been back many times, I guess making me a regular– the chocolate muffins are to die for! The family owners always make you feel really welcome, they could definitely get away with higher prices as the food is of a high standard but they don’t; you can get a massive jacket potato with two fillings for only £3.10! Now if that isn’t a student bargain then I don’t know what is.

They do all sorts of snacks, sandwiches and even a hearty full breakfast which I must confess has the best farmhouse toast around. Even just for a pot of tea and homemade cake, this charming little hole in the wall café is the place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre.  Very chilled out and friendly atmosphere, the staff encourage you to spend as long as you wish – long after you have finished just relaxing and chatting without feeling you need to leave.
