THE BEST AND THE WORST 09/03/2015-15/03/2015

Impact Style takes a look at this week’s best and worst celebrity fashion.

BEST DRESSED THIS WEEK

Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid.

bw1

After strutting the catwalks at PFW, the supermodel bff’s headed to the Balmain Aftershow Dinner wearing very different but oh-so-sassy outfits. Although velvet is slightly last season, Kendall manages to pull of this elegant ruffled dress with a Balmain statement belt and some edgy caged heels. The overall look seems dangerous and sassy, definitely a win. Gigi opted for a more brighter look wearing a bold coloured crop top and wide leg trouser co-ord. There is a slight superhero vibe to Gigi’s outfit with the bold waist belt, however she keeps her hair and make up simple and natural which leaves us with the ultimate supermodel look. 10 out of 10 for these two!

Rihanna

Since the Grammys, Rihanna has definitely been laying low. But her appearance on Good Morning America the other day was a total showstopper. This powder pink monochrome Pascall Millet outfit is too-die-for! The jumpsuit compliments her figure and the blazer adds an impressive business casual feel to the outfit. But trust Rihanna to stay true to her bad girl vibe by finishing the look off with an OTT pink fur stole. All hail Queen RiRi.

Karlie Kloss

One of my favourite parts of the Fashion Week season is checking out the street style, especially the model off duty street style. Here we have the all american beauty, Karlie Kloss, looking effortlessly stylish in a pair of crisp white trousers and a chequered double breast coat. The simplicity of this outfit is gorgeous, from the dainty Yves Saint Laurent bag to her ombre slightly cat eyed sunglasses. Karlie has proven that she is a style icon to keep an eye on.

Solange Knowles

Everything about this look is on point. Solange never disappoints whether she is on the red carpet, at her wedding celebrations or attending one of many A-list appearances. The patterned trousers paired with the fluffy white turtle neck is not a look many of us would think would work. However Solange proves that there is no need to follow typical fashion etiquette, wear what you want with confidence and you are bound to look good.

Darby Stanchfield

For all of you Scandal fans, you may recognise Darby Stanchfield, also known as Abbey or “Red”. Although Darby hasn’t been a leading lady on the show, she was definitely one of the best dressed cast members on the Paleyfest panel last week. Darby manages to piece together a lovely low V cut dress with matching blood red pumps and a boxy clutch. There is a modern 70s vibe to this look which I think deserves a generous amount of praise. Round of applause of Darby! For those of you who don’t watch Scandal, you’re missing out!

Jessica Alba

 bw3

It seems as though the bold coloured monochrome look is a winner this season. Since here we have Jessica Alba turning heads in a monochromatic peach ensemble by Narciso Rodriguez during an outing in NYC?. The colours compliment her skin tone and the maxi coat plus palazzo trouser look is very much on point right now.Kudos to the beautiful Mrs Alba.

 WORST DRESSED THIS WEEK

Selma Hayek

Where to begin? This dress has the potential to work well, but the symmetrical peacock heads and the tutu from underneath makes it look tacky and very outdated. The platform stiletto heels add nothing to the outfit and leave me feeling confused whether Selma is about to attend a fashion gala or a latin dance fiesta.

Pamela Anderson

pamelabw7

Although Pamela has never proven that she is worthy of the title ‘Style Icon’, since she is slightly older now one can hope that she would also be wiser. However, it seems as though that is not the case. This golden metallic dress needs to be returned to the 1990s along with that thin hot pink waist belt and the granny style striped hand bag.

Naomi Campbell

This outfit is unfortunately just too much. The fluffy skirt, sheer top decorated with petals and the petite fur shoulder cape is just not working. Im sure that each piece could work with separate outfits, but together they are just another fashion disaster.

Kim Kardashian West

 kimbw5

There is no denying that we all have a love/hate relationship with Kim. Especially since she did a complete 180° and shocked us all by dying her hair platinum blonde. It seems as though we cant decide whether we love it or hate it. However this outfit is definitely in my “hate” folder. I understand that she is trying to be fashion forward, but this look is not working for Kim. The pinstripe jacket and men’s shirt paired with a buttoned pencil skirt (that looks she just cut the sleeves off an old cardigan) is not a stylish or fashion forward look. On top of that the bright red bodysuit and thigh high peek toe leather boots leaves my wondering whether Fifty Shades of Grey was her inspiration for the look? Overall the look is messy and a total let down.
