Eat. What. Where… Zante

Zante is known as the home of partying, cheap drinks and fast food. However, within its booming strip and picturesque beaches, there are some dining hotspots for you clubbers to take note of.

Here are my top 3 places to eat out in ZANTE.

1. Country Steakhouse Restaurant

After a heavy night, what better place to refuel than Country Steakhouse Restaurant. With classic Greek music, large hearty meals and staff who lead you to your seat with a friendly smile and chirpy conversation, is it any wonder that this was our favourite place to dine?

Zante can be a particularly pricey place to eat out, yet there were an array of offers on the daily specials board which ensured that you wouldn’t break the bank with your visit. We were quite impressed by the waiter’s fiery display as he fried a halloumi cheese before our eyes at the table, and offered it to us as a free appetiser, along with a sausage salad and a plate of garlic bread.

My main of mexican chicken arrived very quickly, and for 7 euros, I was delighted. The sauce had just enough spice without making my eyes water, and the chicken was very succulent. The vegetables had a nice crunch, although could have done with a little more seasoning. My friends meal, beef stroganoff, was delicious. The meat was cooked to perfection, though because of the extremely large portions, she made a pretty pathetic attempt at finishing it.

Although we did not have any room for dessert, the waiter offered us a free cocktail, shots and gave us a voucher for 2 rounds of shots after buying a drink at Mojito Bar. You cannot fault a bar which offers seemingly endless freebies and has a bubbly, soapy water feature on its doorstep.

2. Ciceros

We were drawn into eating at this restaurant by its fantastic offer – for 14 euros we could have any starter, main and ice cream and unlimited drinks, and boy didn’t we take advantage of the unlimited drinks…

After eating dry noodles and crisps for days on end, a large starter of BBQ chicken wings was everything I wanted. My classier friend ordered the stuffed green peppers with feta cheese which she thoroughly enjoyed.

My main of lamb chops and chips was quite nice, although a sauce would have been much appreciated because the meat was a little dry. However, my friend could not fault her saucy chicken and cheesy wedges, and what better way to wash it down than with a bowl of chocolate ice cream and a couple of cocktails.

If you are looking for a laid back restaurant where you can enjoy a good meal and endless drinks, then Ciceros is definitely the place for you.

3. BJ’s

So your night on the strip is coming to a close, and you are hunting for any kind of grease to soak up those many fishbowls, cocktails and tequila slammers. With drunken antics going on at all angles, BJ’s is the perfect place for a 1 euro slice of pizza and a spot of people watching. I can assure you that there is no better or cheaper place to end your night out.
