Trailer Watch – Krampus

This is it, people. The first Christmas movie trailer has been released…but it’s not what you’d expect. Despite a traditional start, with presents, family visits, slightly dry Christmas dinner and a shot of Nottingham’s own Market Square in the first few seconds, Christmas is suddenly ruined when all the electricity goes off. And all people and cars disappear. Don’t you hate it when that happens?

According to ancient legend, Krampus is a horned figure who punishes misbehaving children at Christmas, and is the opposite of St. Nicholas (or Santa as he’s better known) who gives presents to the nice ones! And because of this dysfunctional family’s disillusionment with Christmas, it appears Krampus will be coming down their chimney instead. This horror-comedy, directed by Michael Dougherty, starring Toni Collette, Adam Scott and David Koechner, certainly seems that it will leave viewers with the sense of immense paranoia that they are being watched, and all children (and parents) making sure they are extra good!

With creepy Christmas music, hiding under cars from creepy Jack-in-a-boxes and creepy horned monster things, this definitely promises to be a Christmas horror that you won’t forget in a hurry. Especially if there’s an unexpected power shortage on Christmas Day that is definitely nothing to do with too many fairy lights on the tree.

We’ll all be begging not to be left ‘home alone’ after watching this film, out in the UK on the 4th December.
