Unless you’ve had your head in the sand for the past decade and have somehow managed to exclude them from the narrative of your teenage years, it’s pretty unlikely that you won’t have heard of The Wombats.
Having racked up an impressive discography, with four albums no less, and after solidifying their place in the indie music stratosphere, the band is embarking on a nationwide tour on the back of the release of their latest record, Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life. Having only just finished the leg of their Glitterbug North American tour, the boys show their passion for their craft as well as their hit-making abilities as they bring their BPWRYL tour to Rock City.
After giving fans a glimpse of what was to come from their new album when they debuted the lead single ‘Lemon to a Knife Fight’ on Annie Mac’s Radio 1 show back in November, fans were reassured that the band were back with their signature catchy synth-pop driven anthems. With Annie making the single her Hottest Record in the World, and with ‘Cheetah Tongue’ featuring as the station’s Tune of the Week, it is evident that the band will be bursting with momentum when they headline a sold-out Rock City. Expect a mass singalong, rowdy atmosphere and for the stalls to be turned into a dancefloor. Who needs to go to Crisis on a Wednesday night, eh?
