BREAKING: University Boulevard closed after van and tram collision

University Boulevard has been closed off after a crash between a tram and a van, causing traffic throughout the city.

Reportedly a van went through a red light, thus hitting the tram and causing it to be pushed off the railway.

The accident happened at 3 pm today.

Nottingham Express Transit (NET) posted on Twitter: “Due to a Road Traffic Accident at [the University of Nottingham], we have no service between University Boulevard and NG2.

“Due to the nature of the incident alternative transport may be required – we do apologise for the inconvenience caused.

“For all passengers affected between University Boulevard and NG2 stops, the orange line number 36 and navy line number 49 are currently accepting our tickets.”

Delays are also expected with the orange 35 and 36 NCT bus lines.

NET is currently operating a tram shuttle service for all passengers travelling between University Boulevard and Toton Lane.
