Holding up the philosophy that Christmas music should not only be festive, but diverse, Impact has compiled a list of 25 ‘Christmas songs’ to take you through advent. Including not only songs which are indisputably part of the Christmas canon, but also straying into areas of music which holds looser links to the season. Starting with the tenuous and heading for the recognised classics, look no further for your advent soundtrack.
If you were in Austria the festivities would already have begun, the present unwrapping would likely be over and good ol’ St Nicholas would have been and gone! But here, It’s Christmas Eve, and as is customary small children are insufferably excited, even after having been to the zoo, or the cinema etc. We propose the evening should become a quiet time to reflect upon the true meaning of Christmas.
Such a time requires thought, and the original and beautiful Austrian rendering of Silent Night (in German: “Stille Nacht”) is the perfect tonic before the tumultuous chaos of joy that the morrow will bring.
