Everyone knows fashion and music go hand in hand: models in music videos, singers as designer darlings. Impact takes a look at some of the most stylish music videos to date.
Duran Duran- Girl Panic!
If any music video screams “style” its this one. It doesn’t only feature model legends like Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Helena Christensen, Eva Herzigova and Yasmin Le Bon but also designers such as Dolce & Gabbana, Louboutin, Roberto Cavalli, Edward Sexton, Ralph Lauren and so many more. Duran Duran was the first band EVER to use models in their videos, and with ‘Girl Panic!’ they upped their game once more as each model becomes one of the band members. Oh, and if you need anymore convincing that this is one of the most fashion forward videos of all time: it was designed by none other than Mr Dolce and Mr Gabbana themselves.
Raphaela Ring
Lana Del Rey- National Anthem
As always, Lana is evoking classic 60s style which suits her perfectly- looking immaculately elegant and timeless. Lana rocks backcombed behives, graphic eyeliner and pearls to emulate style icon Jackie Kennedy, pairing this with a pale blue shift dress and pointed silver court shoes to update the look and make it her own.
Verity Sulway
FKA Twigs- Video Girl
FKA Twigs has recently emerged as an artist to watch with her quirky music and edgy fashion style. The music video for ‘Video Girl’ is dim and surreal: so is her fashion sense. The eccentric facial jewellery styled with a golden knitted top is an edgy look that only Twigs would be able to pull off. FKA Twigs sassy style is captivating and this video proves that she is a rising fashion icon.
Chanel Jonsson
Blondie- Call Me
With her platinum blonde hair and razor-sharp cheekbones, Debbie Harry was definitely one of the first ladies to style out punk rock. It’s safe to say this fierce female defined a new wave of tough girl fashion and fearless style. Her style can be replicated through crazy thrift shop items: try some high waisted denim shorts or even a quirky catsuit. Add a trusty leather jacket, some metallic eye makeup, and Wayfarer shades and you’ll be good to go!

Iggy Azelea- Fancy ft. Charli XCX
This video is an amalgamation of three of my favourite things: pop music, chick flicks and 90s fashion. Taking inspiration from teen cult classic Clueless, Iggy Azalea replicates iconic scenes from the the film, providing a twist on some of the most influential 90s trends. Think tartan, pleated skirts, blazers, fluffy hats, knee-high socks, blouses, chokers and of course, big, bouncy hair. Couple this with the fact that one of 2014’s biggest summer hits is blaring in the background and you’ve got a winner.

Lana Del Rey- West Coast
Oh, Lana… Making a cigarette look cool since the release of ‘Video Games’ in 2011. We adore her auburn ‘Film Noir’ heroine waves, full lips and forever artistic talons – she just screams glamourous retro. Lana described her unique look to Vogue as “Gangster Nancy Sinatra” crossed with “Lolita got lost in the hood”. Brilliant. How to recreate her uber cool look? Simple. Ripped jeans, loose white t-shirt and a black leather biker jacket.
