Fire Alarm and Evacuation on University Park

The Portland building on University Park Campus had to be evacuated this morning following a fire alarm.

Many were left stranded on the East Drive in the rain as security and the fire department dealt with the situation.

Emergency services were called to the scene but as of yet there is no information regarding the cause of the alarm.

Students were evacuated out of Portland and advised to seek shelter from the rain in Trent Building as the alarm went on for over an hour.

Leigh Campbell, a third year Creative Writing student, and India Meade, a second year Film Studies student, were in Portland when the alarm went off and commented that the situation was “confusing” and “frustrating” due to the rain and the lack of information available.
