The highly anticipated final chapter to the popular YA franchise, The Hunger Games, has just unleashed its final trailer for Mockingjay: Part 2 and it’s certainly more action-packed than anything from Part 1, including the film itself.
Since the actual book had one of the worst-receptions by fans, it always seemed bizarre to split it into two films due to its odd pacing. Nevertheless, this trailer had some fantastic moments which hints towards the epic pay-off we have all been waiting for. The real excitement in this teaser comes from the action scenes inside the Capital, including a well-known book scene located in a sewer and various ‘Games-esque’ obstacles the characters will be facing.
In terms of hesitations for the film, the trailer has a couple of shots which could be considered mild spoiler territory, and some very unsubtle setups for events in the film. Additionally, Katniss and Prim’s relationship still feels overly forced, the Michael Bay 360 shot of them embracing each other probably didn’t help this either.
However, the trailer still seemed to do everything it set out to and, in my opinion, will create hype for a franchise which appeared to have lost momentum after its third offering. This trailer probably won’t have you at the cinema for opening day, but it may well re-ignite your interest for the franchise.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 will be released on the 20th of November.
