The end of Freshers Week is around the corner. Have you had sufficient helpings of Ocean and Crisis yet? Fully exhausted the stalls at the Freshers Fair? It’s time to sit back, relax and take the afternoon off. You and your new mates probably have lots to catch up on. Why not stick on the fourth edition of Impact Music’s Freshers Playlists (New Friends) while you’re at it?
The Rembrandts – I’ll Be There For You
It’s the Friends theme. Because, Friends. ‘Nuff said really, you guys know Friends right? I’m not getting old am I?
Daft Punk ft. Julian Casablancas – Instant Crush
You’ve probably had a few of these during the past week. Some crushes fade just as instantly as they appear. Some linger. Either way, that’s (partly) what Freshers is for.
Frankie Cosmos – Embody
If you choose the right moment to listen to this track (i.e. just as you’re reflecting on your amazing new fresher-friends), you’re guaranteed to feel warm and fuzzy. ‘Embody’ sounds like contentedness feels.
Biz Markie – Just a Friend
That being said; not everyone’s content with friendship. Sometimes you want a little more. Give this a listen and then man up. You got shit to do, like smash the rest of Freshers.
Sonic Youth – Kool Thing
Sticking on a bit of Sonic Youth is an excellent way too prove to everyone just how Kool you really are. You can’t go far wrong when Kim Gordon is at the helm satirising “male, white, corporate oppression”. Is this the best way to make new friends? Perhaps not. It’s a good way to separate the wheat from the chaff, though.
Chance The Rapper ft. Jeremih & Francis – Summer Friends
I’m pretty sure this song is actually about losing friends to outbreaks of violence in Chicago… But it’s a good song and it says friends and sounds pretty.
