Food Review: One Click Coffee

One Click Coffee is a coffee subscription service, delivering high quality and unique coffee straight to your front door. Their ‘monthly box’, costing £25 a month seems a little pricey, but when you realise that is 90p per cup, it seems quite the bargain. Within the box you get 2 bags of coffee, their newspaper ‘Click’ and an item to eat or keep. So, the real question for a coffee lover like myself, is it worth the money?

“Warm coffee aromas poured out and filled the kitchen”

When opening the box there was no mistaking what was inside. Warm coffee aromas poured out and filled the kitchen. Inside were two brands of coffee, ‘200 degrees’ and ‘Reserve Collection’. Both had a unique smell, with Reserve Collections ‘Rulindo’ coffee smelling both warm, fruity and unquestionably sweet. ‘200 degrees’ had a more bitter aroma, and to be perfectly honest just smelt of nice, albeit normal coffee.

“flavours of honey and apple are combined with coffee … after a few sips I was sold”

Now onto the taste, and ‘Rulindo’ was fabulous. Unusual at first when the flavours of honey and apple are combined with coffee, but after a few sips I was sold. The taste wasn’t quite as strong as it’s scent, but still very good nonetheless. 7/10.

“As coffee goes, it was very pleasant, but nothing to write home about”

‘200 degrees’ was slightly disappointing. As coffee goes, it was very pleasant, but nothing to write home about. It had the more bitter taste you would associate with a strong cup of coffee, but didn’t match up to ‘Reserve Collection’. 5/10.

“I am not sure … if the £25 is justified’

Also within the box was a coaster and small coffee tin. Nice token gifts, but I am not sure when paired with the coffee, if the £25 is justified. Perhaps other items and foods for different months may be worth the price. The newspaper was an interesting read and would make a great coffee table read.

“The subscription would make a lovely and unique gift for any coffee lover”

So would I buy the subscription service for myself? Personally, no. I think I would rather a nice milky instant coffee. I don’t understand the need for ‘posh’ coffee, as long as it keeps me awake then it is good enough for me. However, the subscription would make a lovely and unique gift for any coffee lover. You are guaranteed two different coffees each month, and so if you know someone who would enjoy sampling different flavours, then I would certainly recommend.

6/10
