Sadly, this year Valentine’s Day will have to be celebrated in lockdown; however, that does not have to mean that romance is dead. For those of us who will still be celebrating this day of love, there remains the classic dilemma of what to wear. Whether you’re having a movie night, takeaway or facetime date with a loved one, don’t be afraid to dress up! Why not treat yourself and put on a cute dress and heels to wear to the kitchen! Alternatively, use this year to dress down and spend Valentine’s Day in some comfy pyjamas. Here are some looks that can make celebrating Valentine’s Day still seem special this year:
Matching sweatsuits have been all the rage over the past year, so why not choose this fit for your romantic night in!
Valentine’s Day-themed pyjamas
The beauty of celebrating Valentine’s Day from home this year is that you don’t have to force yourself into a bodycon dress to go out. Instead, you can cosy up in some comfy pj’s and watch a movie. But just because you’re staying in pyjamas doesn’t mean you can’t add a romantic spin to your look. Some silk pyjamas, with love hearts and a pink pallet can supply you with both style and comfort. Boohoo have a range of affordable pyjama sets that you can match with your friends for the perfect Galentines night in!
Romantic Loungewear
If pyjamas aren’t quite the vibe you’re aiming for but you still want a look which is relaxed and comfortable, then a lounge set might be perfect for you! Matching sweatsuits have been all the rage over the past year, so why not choose this fit for your romantic night in! Pink sweatsuits have also been all over Instagram, so this option will be really easy to find and buy. Nasty Gal and Urban Outfitters offer a range of sweatsuits to choose from at a variety of prices.
A Cute Cardigan and Jeans
If you’re looking to dress up a bit more, but aren’t ready to sport a skirt or dress, then why not go for jeans and jumper combo? This year, the cardigan and matching crop top combo have been a go to look for many. It’s a look that is coordinated and girly, whilst still being effortlessly casual. For Valentine’s Day, try out some pastel pinks and purples to match the romance of the day. Pair with some light wash, oversized jeans will go perfectly with this look to create a dreamy, fit. I personally love this purple set from NA-KD.com, its spaghetti straps and ribbed hem is really romantic and super girly.
The brilliant thing about the corset is how perfectly it fits the Valentine’s Vibe! It’s an option with subtle sexiness and a sleek style that matches the tone of a romantic dinner perfectly.
A Corset and Jeans
Bridgeton’s release at the end of 2020 catapulted the corset into the spotlight. Fashion brands did not ignore this popularity and the corset top has been on every shopping site since. The brilliant thing about the corset is how perfectly it fits the Valentine’s Vibe! It’s an option with subtle sexiness and a sleek style that matches the tone of a romantic dinner perfectly. Pair with some jeans and heels (if you can hack it) to create a daring date night look. Showpo’s selection of corset tops is to die for and can give you some great outfit inspiration if you’re still struggling for ideas.
A Casual Mini Dress
A casual mini dress might be the perfect solution this Valentine’s Day as it gives you the satisfaction of dressing up, without being over the top. A flowing, lightweight mini dress is a relaxed alternative to squeezing yourself into a bodycon dress and feeling uncomfortable all evening. My personal favourite colours for this style of dress would have to be pastel blues and pinks, which fit perfectly for Valentine’s Day! Throw on some gold jewellery and a soft glam makeup look, and you’ve got the perfect ensemble. & Other Stories have some lovely dresses that are not overpriced; take a trip to their website to browse their Valentine’s Day dresses.
With these Valentine’s Day outfit options, you’ll be sure to impress on the 14th. However, even if you’re not going to be celebrating the day of love this year then try not to despair. Due to lockdown, many people this Valentine’s Day may not be able to see their partners. A facetime with your friends or a Galentines evening with your roommates could be an alternative method of celebrating. This is a brilliant occasion to treat yourself, so why not dress up for yourself? After all, we must not forget the importance of the relationships we have with ourselves this Valentine’s Day.
