October Style Resolutions

It is obvious that October has hit us. The dreary mornings have us all avoiding getting out of bed and dreading full days of lectures at Uni. It is so easy to let the dull weather affect our style choices outfits, however, there is no need for us to be inhibited by typical british weather. Turning up to uni in a dull outfit is not my thing, so here are my Style resolutions for October.

Hopefully you will be inspired to step out of your comfort zone and try something different!

1. More colour

It seems as though when the weather goes dark and grey, so do we. I often gravitate towards an all black outfit when I’m not sure what to wear. However, by adding some colour to my outfit it instantly looks more interesting and boosts my mood. I recently bought this yellow trench coat from Zara and am in love with it! The mustard tone keeps it subtle and looks great with an all black outfit. Since yellow isn’t everyone’s favourite colour, I would recommend trying pastel colours such as baby blue or violet. I love the outfits the Hadid sisters are wearing here, they prove that pastel colours look good all year round.

2. Hats

Its well known that the best way to disguise a bad hair day is to cover it up with a hat. I have decided to stay away from my cosy black beanie and try something different, like this woollen cap that I found in Monki the other day. The baby blue colour is gorgeous and the bobble detail which gives it a playful twist. A felt floppy hat is at the top of my wish list as well. Both River Island and Topshop have a substantial collection of floppy hats, but I’m looking for one in either a burgundy or a dark green colour (sticking to colour you see).

 3. Fur

I have a  weak spot for everything fur. Whether it´s a fur coat, fur jumper or fur skirt, I literally can’t resist it. I have a lovely fur coat at home, however when I’m off to lectures I sometimes find that it’s a little too glam. My solution? Invest in a fur scarf. Fur scarves compliment any outfit, whether you’re wearing a leather jacket, boyfriend coat or knitted jumper. Plus it will keep you warm if you’re still suffering from freshers flu!

4. No more converse

It is time to bury my beloved Converse that are now worn out after the summer festivities. Worn out shoes in the cold and rainy weather are never a good idea (wet socks = bad mood). Therefore I have decided to sacrifice my student budget and invest in a pair of leather boots for the winter months. Dr. Martens are always a classic but a pair of chunky biker boots would look even better with skinny jeans and a fur coat.
