In total, 5,763 people voted for this position. After 1 round of voting, Elliott Denham received 3,574 votes beating Cyrus Rahim on 1,773. RON received 416 votes.
Elliott told Impact that he was “ecstatic, overwhelmed and so grateful to his campaign team, the candidates and the SU”. He went on to say that the campaign process was “harder than I imagined. You can’t plan it. Speaking to so many students was fantastic”.
One of Elliott’s main policies is to ‘immerse the Students’ Union within the Postgraduate community, and vice versa’. His manifesto also says he wants to ‘unite Undergraduates and Postgraduates through more relevant, timely access to Postgraduate course information’.
Speaking to Impact, the current Postgraduate Officer Anas A O Elhag said: “Elliott getting over three thousand votes is impressive and shows his popularity so he should do a good job”. He also commended Cyrus Rahim, who would have brought the perspective of a PhD student.
