The University of Nottingham (UoN) Men’s Handball team beat Nottingham Trent University’s (NTU) Handball Team 52-25 in their Super Wednesday fixture at the David Ross Sports Village, with Dani Ramos starring for the Green and Gold.
With UoN Women’s Handball winning their Varsity fixture 24-20 prior to the men’s game, the onus was on the men to make it two out of two for the Handball Club, and the Men’s team showed their status as favourites from the off by flying into a 2-0 lead inside the first minute.
Ramos helped himself to two goals in the first five minutes, but a Romain Goraud brace for Trent reduced the deficit to 4-2. The frenetic pace did not let up, however, and when ben Howard, Ramos and Tom Dodsworth hit the net for UoN, the Green and Gold found themselves 8-3 up with just ten minutes gone.
The quality on display by some of the players was evident even to this particular reporter, and one particular finish from the mercurial Dani Ramos drew cries of ‘top bins’, as the quality of UoN finishing was shown time and time again.
Chris Lentz, Ben Howard, Chris Peacock, Luke Bousique-Green and Pierre Reitzer hit the net for UoN to give them a 24-13 lead at half-time; in truth, it was a lead the Green and Gold never looked like squandering.
Chris Peacock grabs UoN's 24th, Halftime at the handball and @UoNHandball lead 24-13 and are well on their way to another Super Weds point!

Three quick-fire Trent goals suggested that there was a possibility of a Trent comeback in the second half, but two Dani Ramos goals allayed any such fears, before Ramos again showed his talent with an audacious penalty, nutmegging the keeper.
Andreas Constantinou, Ali Mitchell and Charlie Swan all joined the scorers list with over 15 minutes to go, with Ben Clements also atoning for a missed penalty with a score of his own, as the Green and Gold ran riot in the final 10 minutes against a tiring Trent team, eventually running in 52 goals.
Speaking to Impact Sport after the game, man of the match Dani Ramos said that it was an “amazing feeling” to win: “Both the attack and the defence played an amazing game. The main thing is the team performance, and they make it easy for me to play.”
“It is amazing to be a part of the first official handball Varsity, and I am so happy to have played in part in it!”
Dani Ramos is pure theatre for @UoNHandball, high fives the crowd after scoring again, that's 50 for UoN, 50-25
