The Students’ Union released a statement on the afternoon of 10th December to announce that Jess Lendon has resigned from their position as the President of the University of Nottingham’s Student Union, after taking on the role in July 2018.
As quoted in the statement, Jess Lendon said, “I have come to this decision to put my mental health first and to prioritise my own wellbeing. This has been a very difficult decision, especially considering my passion and great experience within the SU over my four years here as both a student, student staff member and an Officer.”
The SU has expressed the difficulty of the decision from Jess, who is moving on from the role after “careful consideration”.
Acting Chief Executive, David Goodacre said, “We’re sad that Jess will not be continuing in their role, they will be greatly missed but we completely understand and respect their decision. We wish them all the success and best for the future.”
The official Students’ Union Twitter page also tweeted the following: “Jess Lendon has resigned from their position as President of UoNSU. We wish Jess all the best and thank them for all of their involvement in the SU over the past four years”.
