Creative Corner – A Haiku a Day for a Week

Sophie shares how she used the haiku form to record a small piece of her life, every day for a week...

MONDAY

Day stretches its arms
Crisp air slices tender skin,
Early morning sun

TUESDAY

Fingers clasped tightly
Steam rises from coffee cups
Hunched shoulders, long breath

WEDNESDAY

Light – bursts through curtains
The alarm rings, kettle sings
Slow patter of feet

THURSDAY

Clouds sit on hangers,
Pale faces pinched and closed
Piercing the grey sky

FRIDAY

Wind –  a lonely tune
Whips round every dark corner
Shakes the trees awake

SATURDAY

Leaves crunch underfoot
Lamppost smiles quietly,
Waiting for the moon

SUNDAY

Coat droops limp and sad,
Forgotten till next winter
Sleeps and catches dust
