Dear Agony Aunt: I can’t stick to my New Year’s resolution…

Dear Auntie Carol…

How can I stick to my New Year’s resolution this year?

Dear reader…

First of all, let me apologise for my absence last week!

For those of you who don’t know – last Tuesday was my BIRTHDAY! Honestly, so many unexpected things happened. To cut a long story short – I ended up in a STABLE with THREE wise men. I won’t, I CAN’T lie to you reader; it was a very fun night.

This year, you’re invited.

And speaking of this year… it’s 2019! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

“I don’t normally do New Year’s resolutions anymore because, like the saying goes, you can’t improve on perfection!”

I don’t normally do New Year’s resolutions anymore because, like the saying goes, you can’t improve on perfection! Having SAID that, I wasn’t always this perfect and it took a few New Year’s resolutions to get me to this point.

I’m going to tell you how to stick to some of the most popular resolutions to make you the BEST you that you can be!

  1. Be kinder to the planet

I saw on Twitter #ad today that there are over 100,000 people taking part in Veganuary this year! What’s important with this resolution is baby steps. Have one meat free day; get almond milk in your coffee; RECYCLE! If you need any more motivation, there are LOADS of documentaries to scare you into action.

  1. Exercise more

I’m not going to lie to you reader, exercise is pretty boring! We all know by now that going to the gym is NOT a personality trait. If you’re serious about this exercise thing, you’re going to have to make it fun! Go to Zumba #ad; start synchronised swimming; go for a run outside!

  1. Start a new hobby

I’ll be honest with you reader, one New Year I marched down to Argos #ad and bought the cheapest keyboard they had. I had my future planned: I was going to be the next Stevie Wonder – nobody would see it coming! But after a few weeks, my attention span had run DRY. If you’re starting a new hobby you have to be committed and you have to be serious about it!

If you’re going to make any New Year’s resolutions this year, make sure you’re serious about them. Break them into little, manageable chunks. Make them fun, so you don’t get bored. And make sure your attention span is long enough!

Having said all that, I think you’re perfect just the way you are.

Alexa, play ‘1999’.

Don’t leave me in 2018 – ask me a question here!
