An Interview with Fashion and Lifestyle Blogger PetiteElliee

Francesca interviews the Nottingham-based lifestyle blogger.

With an Instagram following of just under 40k, an extremely popular blog, and an aesthetic to die for, I caught up with lifestyle and fashion blogger PetiteElliee to find out about her life, her blog, and her inspiring advice for anyone wanting to become a blogger.

Can you tell me a bit about yourself and your blog?

Originally I’m from Southampton but I am currently living in the Midlands area. I am a 21-year-old blogger who blogs about petite, mid-size style, her latest buys, lifestyle and anything in between! My main goal is to empower women who have a similar body shape/size to me and show them that they can look and feel good in anything they wear.

When did you first get into blogging?

I first got into blogging when I was 14 and used it as an escape from GSCEs and all things school, friendship struggles, boys, and anything else teenage girls go through! I was inspired by some of the amazing bloggers I followed from the start and loved the connection I had with them, I wanted to create that bond with my followers.

“My main goal is to empower women”

Do you prefer Instagram blogging or writing articles?

Oooooh tough question, it all depends on my mood! I love the short, witty captions on Instagram and love coming up with something funny, smart, or inspirational which goes with the imagery I have created. But I also adore long, heartfelt blogposts where I pour my heart out, rant about a topic or type away my rambles. I feel like I can really TALK on my blog and open up to my audience about what’s going on in my life

How do you deal with writer’s block/getting new ideas if that’s something you struggle with?

Writer’s block is something that I often struggle with, and you can usually tell when I am having a dry patch! But recently I spoke to a friend of mine and her advice was to not force it. You can always tell if I have written something half-hearted and I don’t ever want to put out something that I am not 100% proud of. I get ideas from literally anywhere; a convo with a friend, a magazine, an advert, another blogger… it can come from whatever you want it to.

Following that, what’s the most rewarding thing about being a blogger?

The most rewarding thing is the relationships (and even friendships) you build through blogging. I have such an amazing connection with my followers and feel like they just GET me, and I get them! I have made some amazing friends and have found ‘my people’ through being online.

Where do you see the future going for you and your blog?

Of course, I think the future of my blog involves a lot more of what I am already doing, but really delving further into my favourite parts of fashion. I have some big life changes coming up which I will be documenting and hopefully I’ll be able to continue to motivate and inspire my audience.

Finally, do you have any advice for those wanting to start their own blog?

If you are starting your own blog, the best advice I can give is to just be you. Your people will find you and love you for that! Don’t try and be anything you aren’t and be proud of who you are!
