Christmas. The time to be surrounded by others, especially the eager and effervescent youth. Well, unless it turns out like day thirteen on our Anti-Advent Calendar…
Want to be disturbed and further frightened by any form of contact with the youth of today? If so, Eden Lake is the film for you! This gruesome yet somewhat realistic film turns a romantic getaway in the woods to a blood-filled fusion of tension and terror.
The film follows a young couple wanting to enjoy a weekend getaway – until their fun is spoiled by an irritating gang of youths set on protecting their turf. The youths are confronted about their behaviour and the descent into horror begins. No amount of ASBOs will stop these louts from making you squirm in terror as gore meets realism.
“No amount of ASBOs will stop these louts from making you squirm in terror…”
This film forces genuine fear and shock into your bloodstream as you witness atrocities committed by the gang. With notable early performances from Kelly Reilly (Sherlock Holmes), Michael Fassbender (X-Men) and Jack O’Connell (Skins), this film is sure to show either the true meaning of Christmas or instill a base fear of any chavs. Worth viewing purely for an ending that will disturb you to a new level…
