Jacob Collier has been elected as your new Students’ Union Community Officer for 2018/19.
Jacob was declared the Community Officer for the 2018/19 academic year after winning the 4th round of voting, with 3566 votes.
Jacob is ‘elated and confused’ after ‘a very close vote,’ and paid tribute to Marisa’s campaign, and said that all candidates had ‘strong manifestos.’
The favourite part of Jacob’s campaign was ‘talking to students about manifestos and issues’ while the biggest challenge was ‘motivating people to come out and do things’, but praised his ‘dedicated’ campaign team.
Jacob plans to celebrate by ‘having a few drinks and probably going to Ocean.’ Jacob also looks forward to implementing his manifesto point to tackle rogue landlords and housing, which are ‘big issues.’
The biggest challenge Jacob envisions is ‘tackling hate crime, and [he] wants to create a reporting centre in the SU.’
Jacob also insisted that he could not have won without his campaign manager, Mikey.
